Simple cheesy goodness...a true comfort food. This is the Macaroni and Cheese recipe that I grew up with. It's very easy to make, very tasty, and far better than the kind out of the box. I believe my mother may have gotten the recipe from one of her old Betty Crocker cookbooks. I like the recipe because it's so classic and so simple. Today, it's still a family favorite that we enjoy at least two or three times a month.

carrielfreeman ,I love this recipe and make it on a regular basis. The only thing I sometimes add to it is a pinch of mixed italian herbs to give it a little more bite

ddellafiora ,I've made this twice, the first time didn't love it, the second time I used pepper jack cheese and it was much better but still a little thick. Next time I'll try less flour for a more runny cheese. The honey also suggested maybe trying a cream or buttermilk. I feel the base recipe is a good start but we'll be tweaking it to our liking.

shellskitchen ,Was OK, but I wouldn't make it again. Something tasted off - think it was the cayenne and likely would have been better with Franks Hot Sauce for heat. Sorry but my search for the best mac-n-cheese continues...

houdai ,All I have to do is tell my family that I am making baked macaroni and cheese for dinner, and they all show up! Best I have tried, and I have tried many different mac and cheese recipes! I do double the recipe and add extra cheese. One night I made it with 1% milk and you could not taste the difference!

elementsbb ,Really liked this & it was super easy. Cut the butter in half & it was still almost too much (this from a person who uses real butter in just about everything!), subbed almond flour for white flour, subbed whole grain noodles instead of white & I greased my baking dish to make for easier cleanup. The texture was a little grainy, but that may have to do with the less butter and/or almond flour? Either way, we made it into a healthier option & enjoyed it. My 7 year old had fun helping & then devouring it!
