There’s just something so comforting about sweet apples with the spice of cinnamon. I am always looking for a great way to satisfy my sweet tooth without busting my waist line and this simple baked apples recipe is perfect!

I just know that you are going to love this amazing apple dessert as much as I do! If you love healthy desserts, then you also HAVE to try baked pineapple! It is amazing too!

Simple Apple Dessert Recipe

I love dessert recipes. I love a good sweet treat that is full of flavor and the perfect end to dinner. Of course most desserts are loaded with calories and not healthy for me to be eating as often as I would like to have a dessert so I have been looking for other alternatives.

My most recent alternative has been baked apples. They are so easy to make and they taste amazing! My favorite way to enjoy this easy apple dessert recipe is with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or vanilla frozen yogurt and then a drizzle of homemade caramel sauce on top.

I am getting hungry right now just thinking about how amazing this baked apple dessert is!

How do you core an apple for filling?

Wash and dry the apples and place the apples on the cutting board. Use a pairing knife and place the tip of the pairing knife roughly 3/8ths of an inch on one side of the stem of the apple.

Push the pairing knife into the apple and rotate it around the top to cut out the core and stem while forming a hole in the middle of the apple. Discard the apple core once removed.

Really any apple will do well with this easy baked apples recipe so you can use whatever type you have on hand. However if you are wanting specifics on the best apples to use for baking apples, I prefer to use Honeycrisp, Granny Smith, or red delicious.

How to make Easy Baked Apples

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Wash and dry the apples, then place them on a cutting board. Scoop out the core from the top of the apple, leaving a well (Do not cut all the way through).

Place them in a shallow baking dish.

Stuff each apple with 2 tablespoons brown sugar and 1 tablespoon butter and sprinkle with cinnamon.

Bake in preheated oven for 15 minutes, until sugar begins to caramelize and apples are tender.

Remove from oven and serve with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or vanilla frozen yogurt. Top with a drizzle of caramel sauce if desired.

    Looks tasty! That being said, this recipe is half butter & sugar, so it’s not a “healthy” dessert. It’s just not as bad as it could be.
